Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has now announced the ability to recharge DMRC's metro pass, popularly known as a Smart Card, on the WhatsApp-based ticketing system. To recall, WhatsApp-based ticketing facilities were introduced in 2023, first enabled for the airport line and later expanded to all lines. Here are the details.
DMRC Smart Card Recharge on WhatsApp
The ability to recharge Smart Card is for Delhi Metro commuters across the Delhi NCR. The metro pass can be recharged using the same WhatsApp-based ticketing service, introduced previously by DMRC. It’s available on both Android and iOS. Here are the steps for the same:
- Send "Hi" to +919650855800.
- Choose your preferred language (English or Hindi).
- Select the Smart Card TopUp option from the drop-down list.
- Enter your card number and preferred amount, and choose your preferred payment method.
The WhatsApp-based ticketing service supports multiple payment options, including UPI, debit/credit cards, and more. DMRC aims to improve the commute experience for everyday commuters with the new metro pass recharge on WhatsApp.
The officials confirm that DMRC's WhatsApp-based ticketing service is available across all lines in the Delhi National Capital Region, which includes Gurugram Rapid Metro.
It is also revealed that WhatsApp-based ticketing services for metros are becoming popular in India with the facility being used by millions of commuters in Bengaluru, Kochi, Hyderabad, Chennai, Nagpur, and Pune metros have also started WhatsApp-based ticketing services.
