WhatsApp is planning to borrow another feature from Instagram bringing music integration in status updates. Users can soon choose from a select library of songs and add them as background music in status. The feature is currently available to some beta users. Here are the details.
WhatsApp Status Updates Get Music Integration
The feature has been spotted by some beta users of WhatsApp with version 2.25.2.5 on Android. However, not everyone can access it.
As reported by early users and WABetaInfo, the music integration in WhatsApp is similar to the one on Instagram. When a user uploads any new status update, they will have the option to add a background music track. Users will have plenty of options in the music library, which appears similar to Instagram and Facebook.
WhatsApp will suggest a list of trending music tracks in the list. Popular music tracks from Bollywood movies, YouTube creators, and even International Artists appear to be available in the library. The duration of the music track will be the same as the status update. Videos can be uploaded up to 60 seconds, while photos are capped at 15 seconds.
When any contact views the status update, the same music track will be played. Users can also tap the music and view the artist’s name. WhatsApp will also provide a direct link to the artist’s Instagram profile.
WhatsApp has not revealed any details on the availability of this feature to all users. Since it has started rolling out in beta, we can expect it to be available in the stable version in the upcoming few weeks.
Interested users can try installing the latest beta version of WhatsApp from the Google Play Store, or manually downloading it from APKmirror. However, being on the beta version does not guarantee access to this upcoming feature.
