Microsoft is making Windows to Android file sharing a bit more straightforward. The company has released a new Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 22635.3785 (KB5039319) to introduce a new Windows Share feature. Here’s everything you need to know about it.
Microsoft’s new Windows Share Feature
According to the company’s blog post, users who are part of the Windows Insider program will see a new “My Phone” search icon in Windows Share when sharing content through Windows to Android.
It is said to make content sharing between your Windows system and Android phone a much more seamless experience. However, it’s important to remember that to use this feature, users must pair their Android device with their Windows PC using the Link to Windows app on Android and the Phone Link app on their PC.
Additionally, it’s important to note that this feature is currently in beta. There’s no assurance it will be included in the stable update, as many new features introduced by the company never make it to the final release. Nevertheless, it would be fantastic if this feature completes all testing phases and becomes available in the stable version.
On a similar note, Microsoft will soon add another feature to its Insider program. You might recall (no pun intended) the Recall AI feature that was supposed to start capturing screenshots on Windows devices from June 18th. After facing criticism about privacy concerns, the tech giant has opted for a different approach. This new feature will now be a limited preview available only to members of the Windows Insider Program.
