Google has started rolling out the Gemini into the Gmail side panel for web and mobile users. The search engine giant has revealed that the integration will help users take advantage of Google’s most capable models, including Gemini 1.5 Pro.
Everything to Know About Gemini Integration into Gmail
Google reveals that the Gemini integration for Gmail’s side panel will help users summarise an email thread. Apart from this, it can also suggest responses to an email thread, help users while drafting an email, and answer questions about finding specific information from emails within the inbox or from Google Drive files of the Gmail account holder. Users can also ask ‘freeform’ questions.
Google adds that the Gemini can also be used in the Gmail mobile app on Android and iOS. The Gemini integration into the mobile app on Android and iOS will be able to perform functions similar to those on the web. The summarization of email will help users save time, especially while travelling.
Gemini on mobile will receive other features available for the web in the upcoming months. The Gemini on the web and mobile is expected to be available to end users within 15 days, starting June 24. One thing to note is that this will be available to Workspace users with a Gemini Business and Enterprise add-on, an Education and Education Premium add-on, or a Google One AI Premium plan.
To recall, Google has also brought Gemini to Google Docs and Google Slides to help users redefine the content, slides, and more. Google recently introduced the standalone Gemini for people in India. The app will answer people’s queries and support Gemini Advanced, a paid version for enhanced Gemini capabilities. Gemini in India also supports nine Indian languages, including, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu. The app was previously available in the United States and a few European countries.
