Google now allows users to double-check the responses provided by Gemini. This new feature will help verify the AI chatbot’s answers and ensure there’s no spread of any possible misinformation. It is available on both desktop and mobile versions of Gemini. Here’s how you can use it.
Google’s Double-Check Feature for Gemini’s Responses
Gemini’s responses will now have an additional ‘G‘ button themed with the traditional Google colours. It will allow users to cross-verify the answers generated by the chatbot. This functionality uses a mix of Google searches and other sources to verify the authenticity of the answer.
Google is also using a colour-coding system to make it easier for users to understand how the answer was verified. A green response indicates that Google has found relevant search results based on the answer. In contrast, an orange-coloured response means that Google is trying to find the nearest possible match, which may not be truly related to the topic.
If there is no highlighted content, it means that Google did not find conclusive evidence to verify the answer.
Here’s an example of how the double-check feature in Gemini works:
Note that the double-check feature in Gemini will only link users to additional sources. It will not give a clear answer as to whether the AI-generated response is genuine. The user will have to make the final decision based on the additional resources and content provided by Google after using the double-check button.
The double-check G button is available in the free version of Gemini AI. Users can access the option on the Gemini AI website on their desktop or from the official Gemini app on Android. However, Google has not clarified whether this feature will be extended to Docs and Gmail, where paid users of Gemini AI can integrate the chatbot into these particular apps.
