Meta AI has announced new features making its AI chatbot services more effective. Users can now have voice conversations with Meta AI in real time. It can also edit images using AI and text prompts. These new features will be free across Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram. Here are the details.

Meta AI Gets Major Feature Overhauls

Meta has finally introduced support for real-time voice conversations where the chatbot can respond to the user with audio output. The company has partnered with celebrities like Awkwafina, Dame Judi Dench, John Cena, Keegan Michael Key and Kristen Bell to use their voices in its AI chatbot.

Users can now converse with Meta AI using a voice by selecting the microphone icon. The chatbot can respond to all queries, including requests like singing a song, giving a speech, etc. The answers will be powered by Meta’s Llama 3.2 model.

Meta AI can now analyze images and provide contextual replies related to the media. Users can now send any photo to the AI chatbot and ask it to describe it. Meta mentions that this feature has vast applications where people can send images of a food item to ask Meta AI for its recipe and get similar how-to responses for arts and crafts and other productivity-related tasks.

The update also brings support for image editing. Users can upload a photo in the Meta AI chat and provide text prompts containing edit instructions. Meta AI will analyze the photo and the edit request and provide an edited version of the image within seconds. It can also remove and swap backgrounds in photos. This feature will also be made available in Instagram stories.

Meta AI has also released Live Translation features. When a user comes across a video in a foreign language on their Instagram or Facebook feed, they can request its translated version. Meta AI will translate the audio into English or other supported languages and adjust the lip-sync in the video to make it feel more natural. This feature will be limited to the United States and the company has not revealed any timeline for its global release.

Meta has also launched a new option where users can directly upload AI-generated images on their Facebook and Instagram feeds. The feature can also be used to create new profile pictures and stories. Meta will add a watermark disclosing that the photo was created using Meta AI.

Except for Live Translation of content, all the new features in Meta AI will start rolling out to all Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Messenger users from today. These functions will be available for free.

It is also announced that Meta is working to improve its Llama AI models to make them more productive and safe for its users. Most of these AI models are open source, making it easier for developers and corporations to integrate and utilize Llama and Meta AI in their software, apps, products, and other services.
