Attending a video call on WhatsApp, especially in a dimly lit environment, is always a challenge. As a result, we have to find a spot where there’s enough light so we don’t appear goofy. But now WhatsApp has addressed this issue by introducing a new dedicated “Low-light Mode” for video calls. If you are wondering how to use it, we have your back. Here’s how to use it.
What is WhatsApp’s Low Light Mode?
As the name suggests, the “Low Light Mode” on WhatsApp enables users to have better video quality while taking calls in low light conditions. It reduces the graininess of the image and provides a comparatively better-looking video-calling experience.
How to Low Light Mode for WhatsApp Video Calls
Follow the steps mentioned below to enable it:
- After connecting to a video call on WhatsApp, tap on the “Filter” logo.
- Tap on the “Bulb” logo situated at the top right corner.
The feature is available on both Android and iOS. We tested it on our iPhone 13, and it worked fine, but it hasn’t shown up on the Nothing Phone (2) yet. So, if you don’t see this feature on your device, don’t worry—it should roll out soon. You can also try updating WhatsApp to check if it appears.
Furthermore, WhatsApp has been busy rolling out a host of new features lately. One of the exciting updates is the introduction of custom chat themes for iOS beta users. This new feature offers a range of preset themes along with 20 different colours to personalise your chats.
In addition to this, WhatsApp has also upgraded its Status feature. Users can now quickly react to a status with a simple heart button, making it easier to show appreciation without much effort. The app has also got private mentions, allowing users to tag a specific contact in their status, similar to Instagram, but with a stronger focus on privacy.
