The ChatGPT app for Windows was released last month but required a premium subscription to the service to access. OpenAI has finally released the ChatGPT app for Windows for free users as well.
ChatGPT is Now Available for Free on Windows
The ChatGPT app can be downloaded via the Microsoft Store and comes with all the features available on the web version, such as Instant Answers, Advanced Voice, ChatGPT Search, Image generation, the ability to upload files and photos, and more.
To access the full suite of features without limits like Advanced Voice and ChatGPT Search, users would need a ChatGPT Plus or Team premium subscription. ChatGPT Plus is priced at $20 (~Rs 1,650) and the Team premium is $25 (~ Rs 2,111) a month.
Using Instant Answers, you can summon a companion window on your PC anytime with a shortcut. Set to Alt + Space by default, ChatGPT will open in a small window with access to the full features of ChatGPT.
Separately, ChatGPT also updated its macOS app with a new feature, which allows it to work with developer tools like VS Code, Xcode, Terminal and iTerm2. With this feature, ChatGPT can directly check the code in these apps and answer questions related to it. We can expect the same feature to hit the ChatGPT Windows app sometime in the future.
