WhatsApp is constantly working on improving status updates on its platform. The popular WhatsApp tracking website, WABetaInfo, has now spotted a new feature in the latest WhatsApp beta for the Android 2.24.24.21 update. The new feature will allow you to mention group chats in status updates. Here are the details.
WhatsApp Status New Update Incoming
WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows users to mention group chats in status updates. With the new feature, you will be able to notify all members in a group chat without mentioning each participant individually, adding a layer of convenience to WhatsApp status updates.
WhatsApp currently allows users to mention up to 5 individual contacts per status update. This can be quite restrictive when you need to reach a broader audience. For example, if you have an announcement, group picture, or video you want to share with your family members, you can now tag the family WhatsApp group, and all members will be notified.
Moreover, the group mention feature will bypass current privacy settings, which only allow specific contacts to view the status update. With group mention, all members of the tagged group will be able to see the update regardless of the privacy settings.
As of now, it’s not clear whether there will be any limitations on group mentions. The platform may limit the number of members a group can have to qualify for mentions. We will know the proper details once the feature starts rolling out to more users in the coming days.
