Highlights
  • Google Veo can generate videos in Full HD resolution for up to one minute.
  • It can simulate humans, buildings, and almost all real-world situations.

Veo is finally available in Vertex AI for Google Cloud users. It’s an AI-powered tool that can generate videos from text and image prompts. The company will also start rolling out Imagen 3 next week. Here are the details.

Google Veo Now Available in Vertex AI

Veo was announced in May 2024 at the Google I/O event. It is the most advanced AI-powered video generator and can develop realistic videos with 3D artefacts, physics simulations, and real-life situations in a storytelling format. It is finally available for access in Vertex AI, for Google Cloud users.

Veo can generate videos in 1080p resolution for up to 60 seconds. The duration can be extended further in certain situations, depending on the level of detail described in the text or image prompt. The biggest highlight is its ability to convert a still image into a video. It uses Latent Diffusion models to analyse the image and transform it into a video.

Google will also start rolling out Imagen 3 on Vertex. This new large language model can generate images from text prompts. It can create photos in clip art and realistic formats and can be used to develop creative artwork.

Safety Tools in Veo and Imagen 3

To safeguard users and the internet from misuse of AI-generated media, Google has also integrated several safety measures in Veo and Imagen 3. Both tools embed digital watermarks using Google DeepMind’s SynthID in each image and video. This will make it easier to identify AI-created content if it goes viral for misinformation or wrong purposes.

The tools also have built-in filters that prevent users from generating adult or sensitive content. Google also mentions that personal user data is NOT used by the company to train its AI models.

Veo is currently available only to Google Cloud users, which requires a paid subscription. The company has not announced any plans for its integration with Gemini. These are the first AI-powered media generators from Google accessible in the public domain.
