WhatsApp has been constantly developing features to tackle scams and fake news. The latest feature being developed will let users forward messages to Meta AI to get more context. Let’s check out what the new feature is and how it works.
WhatsApp Will Soon Let Users Forward Messages to Meta AI
WhatsApp rolled out Meta AI on its platform in April of this year. The AI chatbot is designed to answer questions, give advice, and generate creative content, among other things. However, users have never been able to forward messages and media they received to Meta AI. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp will soon allow users to do the same for more context.
As you can see in the screenshot above, users can select Meta AI from the contact list when they choose to forward a message. For the uninitiated, this option was previously unavailable. Currently, users can send a message or media to the Meta AI by copy-pasting it in the conversation with Meta AI.
The screenshot also reveals that users can add more context to the message being forwarded through the “Ask a question” box at the bottom when forwarding a message to Meta AI. This added context will help Meta AI to provide a more accurate and personalised response based on the content of the forwarded message.
If no context is provided, the chatbot will analyse the message as it is and generate a response. Therefore, to check the authenticity of a forwarded message, it would be best to ask a question like “Is this information accurate?” to help Meta AI understand what you want to know.
The feature is currently being tested and rolled out to selected beta testers. It should be available for all users soon.
