WhatsApp will reportedly stop working on a few Android devices in 2025. This is part of its endeavour to update the platform with new features to enhance the user experience. Since these features need the latest software and framework for optimal functioning, the app need to stop updates for older phones. These Android Phones Will Not Support WhatsApp in 2025
According to HDBlog, WhatsApp will stop working on Android smartphones running Android 4.4 KitKat or older. The report says the instant messaging will no longer support the older software starting the first day of next year, January 1, 2025.
Moreover, WhatsApp has also updated the About devices WhatsApp supports in its Help Center to reflect the changes. The webpage now says the app will work only on Android phones with Android 5.0 and newer and iPhones with iOS 12 and newer.
The company announced earlier that the iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus users would no longer be able to use WhatsApp on their devices. However, iPhone users have until May 5, 2025, to upgrade their devices.
