Instagram Will Offer Better DM Search Functionality in 2025
The latest reel from Adam Mosseri, Instagram Head, is a response to a question asked by user @ben_yanes during Mosseri’s last AMA on the platform. The user requested a search bar to filter out keywords in the Request folder of Instagram inbox.
Considering the number of message requests received by creators, this sounds like an excellent feature for checking relevant messages. Mosseri agreed with the idea and said that being able to filter out certain keywords is a great idea. He further assures that he will talk to the team about it and the feature can be expected to roll out in 2025.
Mosseri added that Instagram Search still has a lot to improve and users can expect many more features in the coming year. As of now, you can use the Search Bar in the inbox to look up chat with any user in your inbox.
Another Meta-owned app, WhatsApp, allows users to search for a particular keyword in chats. For example, if you need to share your complete address with someone, you can search a keyword like a house or colony name if you have shared the address before and copy it from the old chat instead of typing it all out again. However, as a user pointed out in the comment section, there’s no way to do so on Instagram.
