Apple recently settled a class action lawsuit for $95 million (Rs 815 crores), in which the company was accused of sharing private Siri conversations with advertisers for targeted ads. Apple Denies Allegations of Siri Data Sharing

The statement on its official website mentions that Apple has never used Siri to build marketing profiles. Any relevant data was never made available to advertisers and it was never sold to any external party. Apple added the company is committed to protecting user data and will continue to make Siri even more private.

Apple also clarified the type of data collected by Siri. The company says only a small amount of information is relayed to Apple’s Servers in specific features. However, Apple will ask for prior consent to use some parts of recordings of the user’s conversations with Siri. A user can opt out of this data-sharing at any time. Apple stresses that it does not record Siri conversations automatically if consent is not provided.

However, Apple has not yet revealed why it settled the lawsuit on the same matter.
