WhatsApp is developing several new features to elevate the user experience on the platform. WABetaInfo spotted these features in the latest beta updates for WhatsApp on Android. The ability to attach photos to poll options could be one of the best features in recent times, as it will give users a visual representation of each choice. Moreover, the company is also developing events for private chats. Let’s take a look at these upcoming WhatsApp features in detail.
WhatsApp Photo Polls and Chat Events Coming Soon
In the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.1.17 update, WABetaInfo has spotted the ability to attach photos to the poll options. According to the website, if you attach an image to one option, all options must maintain consistency and visual appeal. This feature will add an interactive element to polls by giving users a visual idea of each option and making it easier for them to vote.
The feature is also useful when just text description is not enough and visual context is necessary to provide clarity. For example, voting for a photography contest or polls related to design, travel, or food options. According to the report, the photo poll option will be restricted to channels initially, but WhatsApp may eventually expand it to group chats and individual conversations.
Another feature to create events in individual chats has been spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.1.18 update. These private chat events will be similar to those created in group chats to maintain platform consistency.
You will need to provide a name for the event, along with the date and an optional description to offer additional context. You will also have the option to set an end date, location, link audio or video call for virtual meetups, etc. Once the event is created, the recipient will have the option to accept or decline participation.
These features are currently under development and will be rolled out to general users in the coming weeks.
