Jio Prepaid Users Can’t Stream JioCinema for Free Anymore

Jio is slowly phasing out JioCinema to make room for the recently introduced JioHotstar. The telco has removed JioCinema’s subscription benefit from its prepaid plans. Jio and Disney+ Hotstar recently collaborated to form JioHotstar. Here are the details.

Jio Plans Don’t Include JioCinema Anymore

Jio’s prepaid plans, starting at Rs 195 and going up to Rs 3,999, no longer include JioCinema as a free benefit. The change is now live on Jio’s website. JioTV and JioCloud continue to be included in the prepaid plans.

Currently, Jio offers two prepaid plans that offer a subscription to JioHotstar. Here are the details for both the plans:

• Rs 195 cricket data pack: It offers 15GB of data and 90 days of JioHotstar subscription. This pack is valid for 90 days.
• Rs 949 plan: This plan offers 2GB of daily data, 100 SMS a day, and unlimited voice calls. There’s access to an 84-day JioHotstar mobile subscription, JioTV, and JioCloud.

Given the significant price gap, Jio is likely to introduce more prepaid plans bundled with JioHotstar soon. With the Jio-Disney+ Hotstar merger, all JioCinema content, including movies and shows, has now moved to JioHotstar.

JioHotstar Benefits and Plans

JioHotstar has two subscription plans: Super and Premium. Let’s check out their benefits:

• The Super plan offers access to movies, shows, TV channels, and more in 1080p resolution with Dolby Atmos support. It can be used on both phones and laptops, with a maximum of two simultaneous device logins. However, ads are included in this plan.
• The Premium plan offers 4K resolution with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support. It is ad-free, except for sports, and allows streaming on up to four devices simultaneously. You can enjoy content on both mobile and laptop.
