After a month of random device unveilings, Apple has made an unexpected move by discontinuing several products on its website and online store. These products range from iPads and iPhones to MacBooks. So, here is the list of devices that have been delisted from the Apple online store in India:
iPad:
Apple recently unveiled the new iPad Air, featuring the M3 SoC in 11-inch and 13-inch models, and the latest base iPad powered by the A16 chipset on 4 March 2025. The iPad Air M3 is priced at Rs 59,900, and the 11th-generation iPad is sold at Rs 34,900.
After their launch day, the brand quietly discontinued the iPad M2 and 10th-generation iPad. While the iPad Air M2 was launched alongside the iPad Pro M4 in May last year, the latter debuted two years ago. Since this new generation of iPads has now been introduced and offers incremental performance boost over their predecessors, discontinuation was the only strategy left to promote the latest models among the masses.
Mac:
Following the launch of the Apple M4-powered MacBook Air, the brand halted the sale of the MacBook Air with the M3 SoC. This particular iteration was unveiled in March 2023.
The recent MacBook Air is actually a significant upgrade over its precursor. It now comes with 16GB of unified memory in the base variant, double that of last year’s model, to process Apple Intelligence faster. While it seems like a numerical increment, the M4 chipset has more power on paper than the M3 SoC. The new one features a 12MP webcam, an improvement over last year’s model.
The new Mac Studio, featuring the M4 Max and M3 Ultra processors, was also launched on 5 March 2025. This model replaced the previous iteration, powered by the M2 Max and M2 Ultra chipset. The last generation was introduced two years ago at the WWDC event. So, the desktop category was due for a major refresh. The current one packs more punch in performance as the M3 Ultra is claimed to be its most powerful Apple Silicon yet. The new Mac Studio now comes with Thunderbolt 5 ports.
The new MacBook Air starts at Rs 99,900. On the contrary, the Mac Studio can be purchased at a starting price of Rs 2,14,900.
iPhone:
Apple stopped selling the iPhone 14 (iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus) and the third-generation iPhone SE on its online store when it launched the iPhone 16e last month. The new iPhone 16e features a USB Type-C port and an A18 Bionic chipset with support for Apple Intelligence.
The European Union mandated that companies include a Type-C port in all devices, and the Indian government plans to implement this rule later this year. So, fizzling these iPhones out can be justified since they featured an antiquated lighting port.
