Apple has announced the winners of the 2024 Apple Design Awards ahead of WWDC 2024. The tech giant confirms that winners will be recognised at the WWDC 2024 for excellence in design and outstanding technical achievement in apps and games.

The seven categories recognise one app and game each for delight and fun, inclusivity, innovation, interaction, social impact, visual graphics, and spatial computing. Let’s look at the list of each category and the app and game that won the seven categories.

Delight and Fun

The Bears Gratitude app and NYT Games, developed in Australia and the USA, secured the delight and fun category. The Bears Gratitude is a journaling app for honest self-reflection in a welcoming way to establish daily gratitude practices.

The NYT Games feature a mix of titles with a redesigned navigation and gaming catalogue.

Inclusivity

The oko app, developed by AYES from Belgium, has secured the round by alerting pedestrians to the state of signal lights through haptic and audio feedback, which primarily targets visually impaired people.

In the games section, Crayola Adventures is a colourful game with diverse characters developed by Red Games Co. from the US, which secured the award.

Innovation

Procreate Dreams, developed by an Australian developer, won the round. It is a stunning design tool with the ability of the app to create 2D animations. The Israel-developed Lost in Play game secured the award with its endearing characters and fun minigames with thoughtfully crafted puzzles.

Interaction

Crouton, a New Zealand-based app that provides a clean user interface for noting recipes and creating grocery lists, secured the interaction category. Denmark developed Rytmos, which challenges players to solve puzzles by creating pathways using simple drag gestures to secure the round in the games section.

Social Impact

Gentle Streak Fitness Tracker, developed by Slovenians, won the round with the ability to improve everyone’s lifestyle, no matter their location. The health data is smartly organised in the app for better fitness tracking. The Wreck Game from France has deep, intimate narratives that reflect stressful situations.

Visual and Graphics

Rooms, developed in the US, offers users a blank slate for building imaginative scenes, a platform for cosy gaming, and more. The Lies of P is a game from South Korea that offers imaginative adventure with classic tales and visuals that showcase a world of beautiful textures with detailed lighting and more.

Spatial Computing

The German-developed dJay pro DJ App and AI Mixer offer a new way to interact with music in a spatial environment. The app also provides technical ingenuity and best-in-class immersion with high-definition sound quality. The

Blackbox is a game developed in the US that works on Apple Vision Pro and challenges users to think about every corner of the spatial canvas.
