WhatsApp is testing chat theme customisation, a new feature that allows users to change the colours of chat bubbles. WhatsApp has also launched an array of features for stickers, including animated stickers powered by Giphy. Here’s everything you need to know about these new WhatsApp features.
WhatsApp Gets More Stickers
New and searchable Giphy stickers: These animated stickers are searchable stickers that come courtesy of Giphy, a company that Meta used to own and was later sold to Shutterstock. These stickers are searchable and work like the Giphy GIF integration that is already available on WhatsApp. It can be accessed by tapping the Sticker icon and searching for stickers using text or emoji.
Custom Sticker Maker: This feature was previously only available on WhatsApp for iOS. It has now been extended to Android as well. With this tool, users can easily create, edit and share their own stickers without the need for a third-party app.
AI Stickers: WhatsApp also announced AI Stickers, which allow users to create custom stickers using text prompts. It’s not available in India. Currently, it’s only available in the US. WhatsApp notes that Android users in the US can test generating stickers in Spanish and Bahasa Indonesian, in addition to English.
Sticker Organization: With sticker organisation, users can easily discover new packs by previewing them from the sticker tray. Sticker packs can be easily organised as well.
These features will soon start rolling out to users around the globe. WhatsApp did not mention when these features will arrive on user phones in the blog post announcing this feature but remember that new features typically have a staggered rollout.
Chat Theme Customisation
WhatsApp already has Chat Themes, but they are limited to light and dark themes that can be set to match the device theme. Now, WABetaInfo has spotted a feature in the WhatsApp for Android 2.24.17.19 update that gives users more customisation options.
With this feature, users can change the colours of chat bubbles in WhatsApp.
This feature is in development and is visible only on WhatsApp’s Settings page. Unfortunately, we don’t have a screenshot of Chat Theme customisation in a chat. It should be available soon in a future update.
