WhatsApp has rolled out a new update for iOS and Android, which includes a new Draft label for unfinished conversations. In addition, WhatsApp for iOS gets a new home screen widget, which lets users check important conversations based on different categories with one click. Read ahead to learn all about these new features.

WhatsApp Draft Labels for Android and iOS

WhatsApp has borrowed a page from Slack’s playbook and will let you know when you have a conversation with an unsent message. This often happens when you have multiple conversations going on. You start typing a message in one chat window and shift to a more important conversation midway. It’s possible to forget the message you started to type in the other conversation.

As you can see in the screenshot above, WhatsApp now shows a Draft label against the chat with an unsent message. The bright green label will be easier to spot and you can immediately identify conversations with unsent or incomplete messages.

Moreover, the Draft label also shows the message you were planning to send next to it. This helps you remember the conversation and pick up from where you left off.

Before this, there was no way to see if there were any unsent or incomplete messages in conversations. Only when you open a chat you would see the unsent message. The new draft label will address this issue.

The official changelog for the new update on Android and iOS mentions the new Draft label, but the iOS version gets an additional feature. You can now show your Recents, Favourites, Pinned, or Frequently Contacted conversations on their home screen through a new widget.

While the update is available for download on both the Play Store and App Store, the changelog mentions that these features will roll out over the coming weeks. If you are not seeing these features on your smartphone yet, it will gradually arrive, so wait for it.
