Google has shipped a new feature in Gemini called ‘Save Info.’ It allows you to specify their interests or preferences over a certain topic. The Gemini chatbot will remember these settings for all future conversations. This will also help you have longer and more contextual chats with Gemini. Here are the details.
Gemini Can Now Remember Your Preferences
The Save Info feature in Gemini allows you to set preferences such as “Show me only vegetarian recipes,” “Include the word developer every time I ask you to write an email,” “Always set the title to ABC while writing a new document,” and so on.
In simple words, you can now provide one-time instructions to Gemini. The chatbot will adhere to your guidelines, similar to following an SOP. This narrows the gap between Gemini and ChatGPT, where the latter is known to remember details from past conversations.
Rolling out starting today, you can ask Gemini Advanced to remember your interests and preferences for more helpful, relevant responses. Easily view, edit, or delete any information you've shared, and see when it’s used.

The Save Info feature is currently only available to Gemini Advanced users. This needs a paid subscription to the Google One AI Premium plan. It can be accessed in two ways. The first method is to normally message the chatbot to remember your preference. The second way is by heading to Gemini -> Settings -> Save Info.
Once you set your preferences, the same settings will be applied to all your devices using the same Google account for Gemini. The company has not provided details on whether this feature will expand to free users.
For comparison, OpenAI’s ChatGPT can retain some of your instructions in the long run, even on the free version. It works best with GPT-4o but only allows a limited number of prompts a day. Gemini’s new Save Info feature will help it become a more natural digital assistant.
